Tis the season of...

PUMPKIN CARVING AND...

We had Kim and Tyler over for FHE pumpkin carving

The final product! (Joey's, mine, Kim and Tyler’s)

I also made Halloween sugar cookies for a treat...but this is the only picture I took of them. Don't you like his hair do?

 HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!

We dressed up for our ward party that was Saturday night, but unfortunately we forgot the camera so the pictures were taken afterwards at the apartment. The party was fun and there were lots of cute costumes, but that was to be expected in a young married ward with so many adorable babies.

Can you guess who we dressed up as?
...John Smith and Pocahontas of course!

...Joey makes a WAY better John Smith, don't ya think?
It may or may not have something to do with the fact that he's not made out of cardboard
(This picture was taken my 2nd year as a YCL at girls camp, our level was...Pocahontas. My loving mom made me this AMAZING Pocahontas dress that turned into a great Halloween costume.)

Here he is in full costume, made by me. It was really easy cheap costume. Black boot, mine. Little kids sweat pants, DI $2. Cut up T-shirt flipped inside-out, free. White Sunday shirt, his. Belt sash thing, his. Homemade cardboard hat, free. I'd say we didn't do too bad.

My full costume (minus the moccasins cut off in the pic.)
Pocahontas dress made by mom years back, already owned. Moccasins, already owned. Pocahontas necklace made out of cardboard and a cut up shirt, DI shirt $2. Awesome Pocahontas tattoo, drawn by Joey. Although I do wish my hair was as long as the girls camp picture, much more Pocahontas.

Overall our costumes only $4 total, not too shabby!

The Crime Scene

This is our front porch...
THAT is where a pile of cat poop once lay...

I imagined the cat that did the deed looked a little like this...

So what in the world am I am talking about?

The other night Joey and I were eating a late dinner quietly at our kitchen table when we heard some strange noises coming from just outside our front door, that was clearly a cat in distress(Just think of a crazy cat scared out of it's mind by something probably chasing it...thats pretty much what we heard), in addition to the distressed cat was a loud "thump" against our door.We glanced at one another and both jumped up to go check it out. Joey went to the peep hole in the door and I went to our bedroom window that faces the front of our apartment. We both reported to see nothing and then switched...once again nothing. We laughed at the, as Joey called it, "morbid" sounds and continued on with the evening.

Having totally forgotten about the event from the night previous, I stepped out our front door to find, you guessed it, a pile of cat poop.

Nothing else exciting happened, I showed Joey, told the management about it, and they cleaned it up the best they could...but how WEIRD is that?! I just makes me wondered what happened to that poor cat that pooped itself on our doorstep?

Donut or Cake?

I would first like to say I think making blogs into books for family history reasons is a great idea, therefore my posts will probably be things we did a while ago that I would like to remember. This is one that we did a while ago but was fun...

Thanks to sister Julian, we own a donut cake pan that turned into yet another date night.

How cool is that?!

And very YUMMY!!

However with pieces this size, we could not possibly eat the WHOLE thing...maybe with some company we will try it out again.

My very first post

My first blog post ever, how exciting! I would first like to say, creating a blog was harder than I thought it would be...improvements will come in the near future hopefully. Kim you will probably be getting a call soon.

The name of our blog "hand picked Plumbs" has a little story behind it. When I was living back home, my mom left me a note on the front door. It read something like this, "Whitney, please pick up all the plums from the front yard". My good friend Jeanelle came home with me after school, read the note, and then responded, "I know a plumb you'd like to pick".  We of coursed laughed for five minutes about the joke, which is actually not that funny.  Nonetheless, the inspiration for my blog name.  And I did in fact pick the plumb I wanted :)
